Mushroom Adventures
Thunder Bay Lifestyle Photography
Went out mushroom picking for my first time this past weekend! I know wild mushrooms can be dangerous if you don't know what you're looking for but I was with a couple very experienced shroomers, and I trusted their judgement. I actually didn't do much besides take pictures, and ask a bunch of questions. But I did manage to point out a few lobster mushrooms, which are a big deal apparently.
I decided to only use my 60mm f2.8 AF Micro Nikkor lens for this little trip. This was the first lens I bought, I don't use it as often as I should though, most likely because it's a manual focus lens I think. But I really like using it, especially for macro photography obviously. The colors it produces are a little muted and desaturated, which I enjoy. I edited the photos below differently than I usually do, working with what my lens and camera gave me and going for that slightly matted look.
This was my first time visiting this area and I was again surprised at the scenery, especially being so close to Thunder Bay. There's so many amazing locations for nature and landscape photography in this area. I'm already planning another trip back here for some sunset photos in the near future.
After a few hours of hiking and mushroom picking our baskets were full. We headed out for a couple patio beverages, and then had the most amazing homemade mushroom risotto for dinner. Not a bad day!
